slice of life tuesday: shoes
darrah |
Tuesday, July 7, 2009 Slice of Life Tuesday is a place to share photos that were taken in the previous week and that capture ordinary moments in extraordinary ways. Every Tuesday, I will post a photo from my daily life and ask for you to do the same. It is sometimes difficult to make time for creativity, but this is a simple and low-key way for all of us to take a moment out of our daily lives for ourselves. Even if you take only one photo the previous week, you've done something for yourself. Don't have a camera handy when you need it? Cell phone photos are welcome here! The photos don't have to be perfect. They don't have to be pretty. They just have to be.
I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way--things I had no words for. ~ Georgia O'Keeffe
I know it may be odd to quote Georgia O'Keeffe under a photo of shoes, but I think she sums up something I've been noticing lately. Everywhere I look, I notice shapes and colors and beauty - even when I'm shoe shopping.
Share your slice of life! Where did color and shape catch your eye? Sometimes you'll find it in the most unlikely places.

Hi Darrah,
Color can be so ... colorful!
...or not...
My eye-catching color, without a doubt - this past week - was Friday evening sitting out by a small lake in northern Wisconsin, far from any signs of big-city life. And what I noticed was the black of the sky, tiny white speckles (stars), and a big bright white moon. And all of that, reflecting off of a clear still lake - a white glow on the water. As we sat there, it just jumped out at me. The big round moon, and the contrast of black and white. (not quite as colorful as your image above!)
